Lubricants
Due to their efficient lubricating effect, the following products significantly improve the flow characteristics and process behaviour of compounds during extruding, calendaring, moulding, etc. The additives reduce viscosity, promote dispersion, shorten mixing times and lower mixing temperatures and energy requirements. Furthermore, our lubricants typically improve mould removal by reducing the tackiness of the cured compound, while maintaining good compatibility with most polymers and having a negligible effect on cross-linking. Through the proper integration of Struktol lubricants, the increased dimensional stability and the improved surface finish can add to the quality and appearance of your finished rubber articles.
ZINC SOAPS
Zinc soaps are well known process additives in the rubber industry, and show their best effects as the primary lubricant in NR and SBR compounds. Working as internal lubricants, zinc soaps increase the polymer/polymer or polymer/filler flow through the formation of micelles. Additionally, zinc soaps have a slight cure activation effect and often increase the stability of cured NR compounds.
ZINK FREE LUBRICANTS
The increased scrutiny of the use of zinc in rubber compounds due to ecological concerns surrounding heavy metals has led to the development of environmentally friendly alternatives. Offering simular effects as traditional zinc soaps, our zinc-free product group is free of heavy metals, enabling the reduction of the total zinc content in a compound without any loss of processability or performance.
FATTY ACID DERIVATES
Our fatty acid derivative lubricants are multi-functional, effective in nearly all polymers regardless of the filler type used or the intended final application. They influence all essential processing properties needed for an easy and smooth production. Added at the beginning of the mixing cycle filler dispersion is improved, while best flow and release properties are achieved when adding at the end of mixing.
FATTY ACID ESTERS
Our product range of fatty acid esters consists of multifunctional lubricant types, that, mostly used in more polar polymers, show excellent flow improvments and lubricating effects independantly which type of filler is used. Based on their proper more polar character they especially show their best allover performance in special polymers just as NBR, HNBR, ACM and EAM even at very low dosages. Struktol WB 212 can be highlighted as very efficient dispersing aid for highly active, light coloured fillers.
ORGANOSILOXANE BASED SPECIALTIES
Schill+Seilacher patented organosiloxane based materials serve as internal or external lubricants and show excellent stability at high temperatures. As internal lubricants in polar polymers, they increase the compound flow without influence on heat aging properties. As external lubricants, all siloxane modified process additives form a film between rubber and metal, which lowers the rubber to metal friction and fosters release. Mould fouling generation is significantly reduced by their usage and extrudability of highly loaded cable insulation compounds is also improved.
